DMR Repeater Systems

Brandmeister is a large DMR linked-repeater system featuring over 1000 talk groups.  You can listen to any talk group via your PC, tablet, or smartphone using the Brandmeister Hoseline. Search for “Hoseline” in your smart phone’s app store.

Other DMR systems include TGIF, DMR-MARC, and others.  Your DMR ID will likely work on any of these systems, but talk group numbers may differ.  The best way to access many different DMR systems is with a DMR Hotspot.

Currently there are well over 200,000 DMR IDs worldwide.  Older Anytone radios can only hold 200,000 DMR ID contacts.  In the RadioID.net Contacts Database, you can select countries until you approach the maximum number of contacts.  Newer 878s and 578s can hold 500,000 contacts.

AnyTone 578/678/878 Tips

When you start your CPS (Codeplug Software) Always READ from your radio first before making any changes to your codeplug.  If you forget this, the radio may not accept your changes.  if it won’t accept the revised codeplug, just save the revised codeplug, read from the radio, then open the revised codeplug, then write to the radio.

Anytone Key Functions

In the Anytone CPS, remember to look at the Key Functions page in the Optional Settings.  Here’s an example of an Anytone with keys set up for excellent support for DMR and analog FM:

If you open or import someone else’s codeplug into your CPS, their key functions may be different than what you prefer.  When you read from your radio, take a screenshot or photo of your preferred key functions and then remember to restore them manually in your CPS before you write your friend’s codeplug into your radio.

Anytone NOAA Weather Radio Listening Tips

  1. The Grand Junction Area NOAA Radio frequency is 162.550
  2. You can add all seven NOAA Radio frequencies to your codeplug and then set up a scan group for use while traveling.
  3. In your CPS NOAA Radio channel(s), remember to select PTT Inhibit, to prevent accidentally transmitting on a weather channel!
  4. If you choose to activate the Anytone 878 Weather Alert function, it may mute normal NOAA Radio reception.
  5. If NOAA Radio reception drops out every second or so, go to the optional settings/STE page and set STE Type of CTCSS to Off, and STE When No Signal to Off, like the picture below:
